Cold-hardy turf varieties
Kenai Golf Course features Poa annua and creeping bentgrass greens that wake up quickly after winter snowmelt. Fairways are a hardy mix of Kentucky bluegrass and fine fescue cut for clean iron contact.
- Greens: Bentgrass / Poa mix rolling true at 8.5–9.5 on the Stimpmeter.
- Fairways: Dense bluegrass turf with natural spruce-lined tree boundaries.
- Drainage: Sand-based soils allow rapid drying even after heavy coastal rain.
